et Lux is a visionary exploration into the world of love, lust and voyeurism; an immersive experience that will tackle gender identity, sexuality and the passions. This will be a sensual contemporary dance cum burlesque performance not to be missed. The themes of Light and Dark, Dominance versus Submission and Good versus Evil will unfold before your eyes as forms clothed and undressed guide you on a journey through your deepest fantasies.
This production features some of NZ's greatest talents including Award winning pole dancers Michelle Kasey and Larry Wong, Burlesque awards winner Vanya Essin and Astra Burrows, Mathilde Du, Ben Burrowes, accomplished cirque artists Jodi Russell, Sara A. Kidston, Jesse Millar, TK Price and international dancers Jai Jamali and Chris Olwage.
Olwage, in his first ever full-length NZ production, has created a platform for dancers and performance artists of the Sexually and Gender Diverse Community to explore their art forms and create in depth dialogues of what it is to be an embodied sexual being. In his self created Black Swan Productions, Olwage has hand-picked a company of performers who were charged to explore the themes of identity, forbidden love, unrequited longings, sex and sacred sexuality.
Through theatre, costuming, clever choreography and cirque arts, tales of forbidden loves will be intertwined amidst the age old battle of Good versus Evil. But what is good and what is evil? In two Acts, supernatural beings will take you on a journey through the highs and lows of the human condition; guide you along narratives that expose the fragility of our emotions and our need to be loved.
Lot23 will be open from 6:30 before performances for those who would like to come in for a pre-show dinner and drink.
