With the emergence and proliferation of the smartphone, along with increased interconnectivity through social media and dating apps, nude selfies are becoming the norm in masculine exhibitionism. Male physique is being (re)moulded and gym-culture is on the rise. Masculine expressions are being refashioned and the athletic body is becoming the main manifestation of male performativity.

M for Musculine is Hajian's first in a series of exhibitions at George Fraser Gallery, as part of his doctoral research on the male physique, masculine persona, and male sexuality at Elam School of Fine Arts.
